2003 Bissett, Manitoba
I promised solitude, sweat, and skills to members of Crew 19, Normal, who traveled to the Bissett, Manitoba, part of Northern Tier High Adventure in summer 2003. And when we were firmly back at base everyone agreed even if the nods were just a little wearier than when we left nine days previous...[read more]

2002 Bahamas Sea Base
It took three plane rides to get there, and three to get back. But the most interesting part was in the middle. The experiences we had in the Bahamas were breathtaking. The scenery, the people, and the wild life made the trip even better. The coral reef even gave us a new perspective on wildlife, and showed us that there is so much beauty above the earth and below it.
Our Captain, named Trond, who was a musician and a composer helped guide us through the ship and our journey by teaching us the approved cleat Knot and by allowing us to steer the boat.
Snorkeling every day never gets boring in the Bahamas, there is always something new to see and to experience. We even got to explore an abandoned Disney resort

2001 Rafting/Backpacking at Packard High Adventure Base in Colorado
Packard was a shabby looking old camp at first. But as we meet people and guides we really new that we had a great camp and an action packed trip coming for us (plus we had girls for backpacking guides).
Our week started out with some small time white water rafting on small class 2 and 3 rapids with a crabby guide and a giant cliff jump at the end. The second day, however, the guide being in a better mood made our trip more enjoyable along with having our boat covered in water.
On our third night a bear attacked a helpless scout while he slept, and then the guides went on strike because of lack of sleep(so they say). But undiscouraged we The Troop 19 crew decided to hike on our own and made our way up to water dog lakes. the water dogs are a set of lakes right next to the continental divide and so we hike along the trail on top of the ridge. only to find on the top a fantastic view of the mountainous surrounding. Need I say more.

1998 Sea Base, Florida Keys
Seventeen Sea Dogs returned from the Sea Base with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The trip down and back was memorablewith stops at Revolutionary War battlefields (Cowpens), Civil War sites (Ft. Sumter), Spanish-English battles (St. Augustine), antebellum estates (Charleston), natural beauty (the Foggy Rainy Mountains, which some people call Smoky; and the unique but endangered Everglades), and natural disasters (the Florida fires), rustic campsites like the Holiday and Homestead (Air Force) Inns, and museums like the one at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
So was our week onboard an 82 foot ketchsailing off the keys with the legendary Capt'n Lance. Highligihts of the trip included our one night under full sail, full moon, and full music, and Americas largest 19th century fort (and least visited national park) set among palm trees, sunset in Key West.
