Canyon Camp

Canyon Camp this year was fun. There were a lot of things to do and badges to earn, such as the mile swim and snorkeling. Philip Garrett was our mile swimmer. 18 boys and 4 leaders went to camp. There were lots of merit badges earned-39 in all. The average of merit badges earned was about two per person. They were earned in a lot of areas. Some were for field sports like Archery or Fishing. Others were fore scout crafts like Camping. Yet others were nature merit badges like Environmental Science. Some of the first or second year scouts earned Swimming. Brian Sawicki received 5 merit badges, tops in the troop.

On Wednesday afternoon and night Canyon Camp had visitor’s day where the scout’s parents and anyone else who wanted to could come and visit them. Later that night they held the Order of the Arrow ceremony. Two people from our troop were called out-Brandon Boerner and Mrs. Boeck.

Overall, I think everyone had fun. Special thanks goes to Mrs. Boeck, Mr. Boerner, Mr. Kalmbach, and Mr. Warren.
