Webelos Troop 19 actively recruits Webelos scouts by providing activities that support the Arrow of Light program. We want Webelos to sample Boy Scouts, so we generally invite all Webelos dens to visit our meetings and host them at at least two campouts, where we serve our infamous Fairview Stew. This year, for example, we had one meeting for the Readyman Badge, and another where we worked on a variety of merit badges (and their Showman badge). Our November version of Fairview Stew was at Camp Peairs, but the highlight of every year is a February visit to Starved Rock where we share our love of the outdoors (and the beauty of Starved Rock in wintertime) with our Webelos friends. In February and March, the troop's recruiting efforts usually culminate with crossovers into Troop 19. We hope that Troop 19 will be the "best they've seen," and that they'll contribute to our history and build new traditions.
